Our Gardening Practices:

We use organic methods for our gardens, although we are not "certified organic." We grow only non-gmo heirloom crops without the use of pesticides, chemical sprays, or synthetic fertilizers.

How do we fertilize?

We use liquid fish fertilizer, bone meal, and fish meal for fertilization. We use organic fertilizer (Jobes) and use manure from our livestock.

How do we control pests?

We use natural methods for pests, such as crop rotation, companion planting, row covers, BT (bacillus thuringiensis), neem oil, DE (diatomaceous earth), and the age old standby of hand picking.

How do we build the soil?

We grow cover crops next to or in rotation with food crops to introduce nutrients into the soil. We also deep mulch during the season.
