Who We Are

We are a first generation family farm in Castle, Oklahoma. Our farming expedition started in Georgia in 2011. We decided to relocate to a more agriculturally friendly State in 2013. Our farming practices are influenced by the way our ancestors farmed prior to the industrialization of farming. We realize that there is a serious decline in local fresh food, we want to be a solution to that problem. We believe that all children should understand the story of their food and know where it comes from and where it is produced. We hope to inspire our community to relish in the taste of real, seasonal produce and to keep connected to the land. We have the hope that we can help promote healthy living and above all change.

About the farm hands

Matthew and Shawla Allen are the owners and workers on the farm. We met at the young ages of 18 and 21 years old and were married less than 3 months later. We have had a ton of adventure since meeting. We have resided in a wide range of places, we have worn many hats and never shied away from change, challenges, or hard work. We were married in 2002 and are together raising 8 children, who all help out on the farm.

We must admit that we are old souls. We romanticize the thoughts of the old days before our time. We share a commonness of old fashioned values and ways of living which we attentively try to instill in our children.

How we came to be farmers

A short time after having our first few children, we started noticing how certain foods triggered certain behaviors from them. We began to research and study food and its effects on health. This played a major role in us changing the way that we eat, raise our children, and live our lives. It made us swallow the upsetting truth that agriculturally,  food is just not what it used to be. We were stunned to learn how many chemicals, additives, and preservatives were in our foods. We began to read food labels and cook our own meals at home from scratch. Shortly after changing our diet to an all organic one, we created a small plot and put in our very first garden. A few years later, we sold our home in the city and took the plunge to move into the country where we felt it would be the best place to raise our children, have a bigger garden, and raise a few animals. We spent the next years homesteading, with each year proving more successful than the last. Which brings us to the present day, where we have reached the pinnacle of providing a significant amount of food for our family.  We have decided to take a journey in our endeavours to use the knowledge we have gained through the years to help others.  Allowing individuals to eat nutritionally superior food and to also help them take back their voice. The voice that gets to decide whether they will spend their money supporting corporate farming or whether they will spend it to support family farming.

We hope many of you will join us in this endeavor.
